We move towards a changing and more and more demanding society. To address this situation, one must be able to adapt to the production processes and needs, by being more efficient in the use of resources and, of course, environmentally friendly.

The right road for an economic, social, and environmental sustainability is called Industry 4.0 which will play a key role. A new way to organize means of production, with an adequate digitalization and coordination which are interrelated and connected with supply and demand.

And Bodegas Martín Códax is precisely working on this industry revolution by adapting its processes to this new way of doing things both in vineyard and winery. In vine-growing, for instance, we have been working more accurately for the last years  thanks to the use of new technologies – such as the system for remote sensing – and tools as drones or satellite images. These techniques will help us to optimize the use of limited resources and to reduce the greenhouse gas emissions.

Another example is the new bottling line which Martín Códax has invested in. It has a wide capacity to bottle different styles of wine – sparkling wines- and it allows to use new and diverse bottle sizes which are demanded by the market. Moreover, the end of the line, palletization are fully automatized hence optimizing the its performance.

The last of the projects in which Martín Códax is involved has been awarded in the Industry 4.0 Competition, organized by the Galician Insitute for Economic Promotion (IGAPE). This competition is an initiative from Cluster Alimentario de Galicia, in collaboration with CECOPESCA technological center and other Galician companies in the dairy and fruit and vegetable sectors. Its aim is to advance the intelligent use of information intended to improve competitiveness, sustainability and innovation in the value chain of food and drinks.
