This recognition means a great deal to us because it highlights the more than 40 years we have spent building a project in which culture, music, and our local community are at the heart of who we are.
We started out with a clear vision: to showcase the potential of Albariño without losing sight of our roots. Over time, we’ve grown, exporting our wines to more than 60 countries, but we’ve always kept in mind that our project only makes sense if we remain connected to the place where we began.
Culture and music: the heart of our project
For us, “Toda unha cultura” is more than just a slogan. It’s a way of understanding what we do every day, rooted in our origins and with a constant connection to the land. Culture is present in the way we work, but also in how we conceive of wine and in the details that accompany it, because we understand that everything communicates a message and everything is part of the same story.
A culture that is lived out at every stage: in the Albariño itself and in the harvest, which we see as a time for remembrance, community, and shared identity. It draws its inspiration from the 13th-century Galician troubadour after whom the winery is named, and under whose name we have, over time, built our own narrative in which wine, music, memory, and the land come together.
Over the years, we have launched initiatives that reflect this commitment. Os Xoves de Códax is one of the clearest examples: a space where, every summer, we open our winery to music and contemporary creation. We like to think of this series as a meeting place, where artists from Galicia and beyond come together to create unique projects. Furthermore, its charitable nature has allowed us to contribute to numerous social projects.
Music plays a central role in our understanding of culture. That is why we support the Martín Códax Music Awards, now in their thirteenth year, and the Outono Códax Festival, an annual event held each fall in Santiago de Compostela that brings together artists and audiences to celebrate music.
Commitment to heritage and a vision for the future
Our commitment also extends to our cultural heritage and the written word. We have promoted initiatives focused on the revival of medieval music and literary creation in the Galician language, because we believe that preserving our culture is also a way of preserving who we are.
This award encourages us to keep moving forward with consistency and responsibility. To continue building a project in which wine, culture, and the region go hand in hand. Because if there’s one thing we’re certain of, it’s that growth only makes sense if we do it without losing our essence.
