The Sala Riquela in Santiago de Compostela hosted the official presentation of the 13th edition yesterday, attended by representatives from Músicas ao Vivo, the Galician Agency for Cultural Industries (AGADIC), the City Council of Pontevedra, the Provincial Council of Pontevedra, and Bodegas Martín Códax.

Jacobo Sutil, director of AGADIC, highlighted the public’s participation in the voting as a way to raise the profile of the professionals who make music in Galicia.

Diversity and Professionalization in the Sector

The 13th edition will feature a total of 15 musical categories spanning styles as diverse as pop and indie; rock and punk; blues, funk, and soul; metal and heavy metal; singer-songwriter music; urban music; world music and fusion; electronic music; classical and contemporary music; jazz and improvised music; traditional music; folk music; children’s music; orchestras, groups, and festival music; and popular music bands.

In addition, the special “Emerging Artist” category remains, focusing on new projects with less than three years of experience and no more than one album released. The Organistrum Awards will recognize the work of venues, festivals, and music media projects, and an Honorary “Músicas ao Vivo” Award will be presented to an artist with an outstanding career in Galician music.

In total, 48 finalists will be announced and 20 awards presented at the final gala, promoting the professionalization and visibility of the sector.
