Thursday February 16th, 2017

A Bodegas Martín Códax wine earned the highest award for three years in a row.

Critics have spoken and again, it has been to praise the quality and virtues of our wines.  The AEPEV (Journalists and Wine Writers Spanish Association) has given us the highest award for three consecutive years.

Our viticulturists orientation to quality, as well as our involvement in I+D+i through projects like Cenit Demeter and Globalviti or using tools as teledetection, have given us the opportunity to constantly increase our wines quality. A quality that has been recognised by the final consumer as well as by the specialized press.

First, in 2014, it was Martín Códax Lías 2011. Then, in 2015, Martín Códax 2014. After that, in 2016, Martín Códax Vindel has been chosen as “The Best White Wine Without Oak in Spain”.

This D.O. Rías Baixas wine, which is made with 100% albariño grape, has been awarded after a double-round vote in which more than 90% of the AEPEV members have participated and decided among the 1055 different brands proposed in the first part of the competition. From all of them, only 143 wines have made it to the final part.

Born in the Vindel’s Pergamino appearance centenary and paying homage to its name, Martín Códax Vindel results from an extreme viticulture. A viticulture headed to reach vineyards of low vigor, very porous and with a high foliar surface area which causes low productivity. As a result, we obtain pink albariño grapes with unique features and a great aromatic complexity.
